Mission/Giving Statement:  The mission of Fidelity's charitable giving program is to provide funding and volunteer support to the Albuquerque-area community with particular emphasis on providing the coaches, tools and experiences necessary to help underserved students achieve school success and pursue their own unique path to college and work.

Research tells us that students who stay in school not only contribute to a productive and viable workforce, but impact the economy in numerous positive ways.  Through Fidelity at School, the firm and its employees support efforts designed to change the path of a student, fund a critical school initiative, or develop a program that will generate a positive impact on future generations.

Fidelity Investments is dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities where its clients and employees live and work.

Grantmaking Program Areas:   Education

Education:  Fidelity Investment's focus is on education.  Access to quality education is critical to the success of our children and the strength of our local communities.  Fidelity's main goal is to partner with programs designed to enhance educational opportunities for young people, who we believe represent the future of our communities, our economy, and our progress as a nation.

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions:  Fidelity receives thousands of requests from many worthy causes and events, therefore it has established consistent criteria to objectively review requests.  Fidelity takes a long-term view, with the goal of committing its resources where they can have the greatest impact on local communities.  Fidelity works with organizations that are efficient and effective, doing work that is relevant, responsive to the needs of the community, sustainable and results-driven.  No individual, religious-focused, or team sponsorships.

Application Instructions:  Mail grant proposal.  To be considered, please follow these steps:

  • Submit all sponsorship requests in writing.
  • Include a cover letter outlining the details of the sponsorship on the organization's letterhead.
  • Provide a description of the organization's background and mission statement.
  • Include the organization's current year's financial statement, including 501(c)(3) tax exempt documentation from the IRS (if applicable).

Mission/Giving Statement: The Tony Hawk Foundation seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on supporting and empowering youth. Through special events, grants, and technical assistance, the Foundation supports recreational programs with a focus on the creation of public skateboard parks in low-income communities. The Foundation favors programs that clearly demonstrate that funds received will produce tangible, ongoing, positive results.

Grantmaking Program Areas: Skateparks in Low-Income Areas

Skateparks in Low-Income Areas:  The Foundation primarily considers skatepark projects that:

  • Are designed and built by qualified and experienced skatepark contractors.
  • Include local skaters in the design process.
  • Are in low-income ares, and/or areas with a high population of "at-risk" youth.
  • Can demonstrate a strong grassroots commitment to the project, particulary in the form of fund-raising.
  • Have a creative mix of street obstacles and transition/vert terrain.
  • Don't require skaters or their parents to sign waivers.
  • Encourage skaters to look after their own safety and the safety of others.
  • Are open during daylight hours, 365 days a year.
  • Don't charge an entrance fee.
  • Are in areas that currently have no skateboarding facilities.

Types of Funding/Funding Restrictions: The Foundation's grants are highly competitive. If your proposed skatepark is not located in a low-income area, if you are not able to illustrate strong community and grassroots support for the project, and if you project does not meet the criteria listed on the Foundation's website, you are unlikely to receive a grant from the Foundation.

Mission/Giving Statement: "Pay It Forward" is a book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, but it's also an idea. It's an action plan within a work of fiction. The Pay It Forward Foundation was established in September 2000 by author Catherine Ryan Hyde and others to educate and inspire students to realize that they can change the world, and provide them with opportunities to do so.

Grantmaking Program Areas: Pay It Forward In the Classroom

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

Pay It Forward In the Classroom: The concept of "paying it forward" comes from an extra credit assignment given to Trevor in school His teacher asks the students to "Think of an idea for world change, and put it into action." Work with a teacher at your local school to develop a PAY IT FORWARD assignment. The Pay It Forward Foundation can provide supportive educational materials and seed money to those who qualify, through the Pay It Forward Mini Grant Program.

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: Pay It Forward Mini Grants are designed to fund one-time-only service-oriented projects identified by youth as activities they would like to perform to benefit their school, neighborhood, or greater community. Projects must contain a "pay it forward" focus - that is, they must be based on the concept of one person doing a favor for others, who in turn do favors for others, with the results growing exponentially. The Foundation does not give general education grants for the improvement of schools or the purchase of educational materials, etc.
