Mission/Giving Statement:  The Junior League of Albuquerque (JLA) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  JLA envisions a safe, healthy, and nurturing community for all.

Grantmaking Program Areas:  Signature 2-Year Collaboration Projects; Done In A Day Projects

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions

Signature 2-Year Collaboration Projects:  Since 1934 the Junior League of Albuquerque has served the community through a variety of projects addressing a wide range of needs. The JLA Membership  voted in 2009 to focus its Signature grants on hunger issues through 2014.  In the future JLA will continue to survey members to best match member interest to current community needs.  Please visit the JLA website for more information on potential projects matching member interest.

Done In A Day Projects: The Done In A Day Committee acts as a liaison between the League and various community groups and projects in need of short term volunteer assistance and/or minimal financial support.  This committee researches and coordinates such opportunities for the League in order to provide members with a variety of volunteer opportunities and to provide support to a broad range of community organizations.

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions:  Signature 2-Year Collaboration grants range from $5,000 to $12,500 and are currently being provided for two year periods.  The JLA will not award funds for salary or rent.  In the past, JLA has supported organizations with both program costs and capital costs.  The most successful projects have offered a vibrant collaboration with the Junior League of Albuquerque by seeking both volunteers and funds.  Done In A Day (DIAD ) grants will be open to all organizations assisting women and children.  A small number of grants will be awarded and will range in value up to $999.  Under certain circumstances the DIAD committee may consider doing a project with an organization to which they grant money, but only if it fits the needs of the DIAD Committee and JLA membership.

Application Instructions:   Signature Two-Year Collaboration Requests for Proposals are solicited every other fall (in odd years).  Unsolicited proposals are also encouraged.  DIAD grants will be solicited on an ongoing basis.  Please email JLA for more information and to request an application.

Notes:  For best method of contact, it is best to keep in mind, that the Junior League of Albuquerque is a volunteer organization.  It is always best to reference the website or leave a message at the JLA Office for preferred point of contact from year to year.
