Childe Welfare: To contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children through the dissemination of knowledge about new and innovative organizations and/or their programs designed to benefit youth; and  to contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children through the dissemination of knowledge already possessed by well-established organizations, to the end that such information can be more adequately used by society.

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: Grants must have the potential of helping American children in a large geographic area (more than one state).

Mission/Giving Statement : AARP Foundation's grants program reflects our commitment to transforming the lives of vulnerable older Americans by meeting their everyday needs — food, housing, income and personal connection. Through our investment in grantees we seek to improve the lives of vulnerable, low-income older Americans in communities across the country so together we can build a country free of poverty, where no older person feels vulnerable.

Grantmaking Program Areas Description:

We fund a diverse range of promising projects that help create long-term, sustainable solutions to the problems faced by low-income adults age 50 and older. These projects may range from basic education to interventions spearheaded by organizations that address the social and behavioral aspects of these problems on older Americans.

Grantmaking Program Areas: Access to Health Care; Science Education; Develpoment of Communities

Grantmaking Program Area Description: 

Access to Health Care: To address this issue by designing, partnering on and implementing innovative programs to expand access to health care services for the world's most disadvantaged populations, by training doctors, building facilities in underserved areas or engaging in other locally appropriate initiatives.

Science Education: Serving as a catalyst by stimulating community investment and engagement. Engages and inspires students, families and teachers in scientific exploration in out-of-school informal settings. Encourages young people to be more proficient in science and attracts more scientists to the field. Builds strong partnerships that are systemic, replicable and sustainable for multiple years and multiple locations.

Development of Communities: Healthy communities possess vibrant and diverse institutions that serve the public good. These institutions range from health and human welfare agencies such as food banks, homeless shelters and health clinics to museums, libraries and universities. The Abbott Fund supports creative programs that address unmet needs of local communities. When natural disasters and emergencies strike communities, the Abbott Fund responds with Grants to trusted humanitarian relief partners. Grants are directed to both immediate needs and longer-term reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.

Mission/Giving Statement: The purposes of the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation are to aid Chrisitan religious organizations, charitable organizations, institutions of higher learning, hospitals and other organizations of a general charitable nature.

Types of Funding/Funding Restrictions: The Foundation does not fund educational institutions below the college level or churches. List of additional restrictions online.

Restrictions or limitations: Individual recipients must be full-time teachers in the Hobb community. Non-profit organization recipients must be qualified for an exemption for federal income tax purposes under section 501 (c) (3) and meeting the foundation's general purposes.
